Lego Minifigure Scale Tantive IV – Day 4

Day 4 was planned to be straightforward but there were some challenging little tricks that tripped me up. The video is a little longer due to those trips than is related to actual work. Here is the rendering of where we are supposed to get to at the end of Day 4.

Rendering of Day 4 Build by Bricks for the Win

The focus of the build today was to get the rings on the main corridor, the side corridors and the communication array. The sixth protrusion from this cluttered intersection on the bottom will be completed after the top half of the ship has its outer hull on. The current length of the bottom provides a stable platform on which to work on the top half of the ship. The truss structure on the communication array was extended and spacers were added. These spacers go on the inside of the trusses and connect directly to the rings as the rings for the communication array is slightly smaller than the corridor rings and as such as different requirements for connection.

The rings for the corridor sections have to be added is a specific way so that beams, bushings and axles all align without stress. It took my brain a few attempts to figure out the how this all was supposed to be set up and during Day 3, I put a few bushing in the wrong spots which create confusion and required some fixing today. Here is the time-lapse video of the days construction.

Here is today’s progress photo.

Completed Structure from Day 4 by Bricks for the Win

For context, the length is 108 studs, the T-section is 91 studs wide and the rings are 32 studs in diameter. The rings have a lot of small pieces so the part count is up by 50% today.

Thank you for following. Note that I have updated my logo and webpage look a little. Please comment.

Day 5 will either be a start on the outer hull or potentially, a detour to complete a portion of white interior corridor. I am really getting some momentum here. My new sign off is a nod to Lego’s origin and my desire to complete this massive build. Altid fremad!
